The label is helmed by Bea Recoder, who launched RECO after building experience at houses such as Balenciaga, Chloé, Paco Rabanne and Byredo. At the beginning of the pandemic, the creative started a project where she would make handbags using leather waste from other luxury fashion brands, through a patchwork technique to make the most out of the materials. The project led to a small collection and eventually to the launch of RECO, which continues to produce in limited editions.
Recoder speaks of her collections in a press release: “Overproduction and dormant inventory are two main issues resulting from the way that fashion functions today. RECO seeks to offer customers new alternatives at a fair price without compromising on material quality and craftsmanship and to me, this is the most relevant type of luxury item — one that is produced ethically, responsibly and is limited in quantity.”
The emerging brand’s purses are available for prices ranging from $545 to $792 USD on its official website.
